Division of Environmental Physics, Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University in Bratislava is currently seeking qualified applicant for laboratory analyst (water) position.

Position: Laboratory analyst (water)

Research field: Chemistry / Physics / Environmental engineering
Monthly income (gross salary): 1700 - 2705 EUR, depending on the education degree and the level of experience,
plus further benefits including social security and health insurance paid by the employer,
plus contribution for lunch vouchers by the employer.
Selection process: Before 16 Aug 2024, the candidate should submit:

   3) Proof of receiving of the MSc/engineer/PhD degree (e.g. scan of the diploma).
   4) One letter of recommendation certifying the laboratory skills.

Our research team is focused on environmental/biomedical/agriculture applications of cold plasma. We are seeking a highly motivated and experimentally skilled laboratory analyst with at least 4-year expertise in analyses of wastewater / plasma-activated water or related field to contribute to the project EnvADWICE “Environmental Applications of electrical Discharges for Water and aIr Cleaning, and agriculturE”.

The candidate’s main tasks will be:

  • Chemical analysis of the plasma-activated water (absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy, with or without chemical reagents)
  • Chemical analysis of organic micropollutants in wastewater and their degradation products (absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy, HPLC)

Additional tasks:

  • Market search and acquisition of laboratory instruments, chemicals, consumables
  • Diagnostics of plasma-treated gases (infrared absorption, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry)
  • Microbiology cultivation tests (plate counts)
  • Preparing technical reports, scientific manuscripts, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to Bc., Ms., PhD., and visiting students when required

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications
The candidate should demonstrate his/her competence in the following aspects:

  • Experience with cold plasma/AOP/other systems for wastewater treatment
  • Experience in water/wastewater analytics (absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy, HPLC)
  • Chemical measurements and analysis of reactive species induced in PAW
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
  • Communication and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and in an international team-oriented research environment
Previous experience with gas analysis (FTIR, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry) and microbiology welcome.

Very good level of oral and written communication in English.
